Reclining Angels actually started with the beautiful wing. The challenge was to create the figures stacked together from a single piece of wood. Wood always has the possibility of cracking or splitting. To make the mold, the figures had to be separated and three molds were made. After casting, the wood pieces were joined back together as were the bronze elements.
